The Department of Biological Systems Engineering (BSE) is participating in the East Campus Discovery Days and Farmers Market at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln this summer, offering hands-on STEM activities for curious minds of all ages. Discovery Days is a family-friendly event designed to connect the community with science, creativity, and fun.

In June, BSE faculty members Deepak Keshwani and Jenny Keshwani, along with summer student intern Jada Vogel, led a popular wind energy activity. Participants had the chance to build their own wind turbines and test how much energy they could produce using a box fan. Young and old alike had fun exploring the science behind renewable energy.

BSE will continue sharing exciting engineering challenges and innovations throughout the summer. Don’t miss our upcoming activities at the July 12 market, which will focus on biomedical engineering, and the August 9 market, featuring plant phenotyping.
