Coming from the tight-knit town of Superior, Nebraska (pop. ~1,800), Kalynn Meyer has always carried her roots with pride. Now a master’s student in Agricultural & Biological Systems Engineering, Meyer delivered a career-defining performance: a personal-best throw of 58.29 m (191-3) that not only earned her the Big Ten women’s discus title but also stands as the third-farthest throw in school history.

Kalynn’s athletic journey is as dynamic as her throws. A former Nebraska volleyball player—she appeared in matches during the 2020–2021 season—she pivoted her focus toward track and field and quickly became a standout in throwing events KLKN-TV.

Reflecting on her win, Meyer shared in a Nebraska Athletics article:

“Wearing ‘Nebraska’ across my chest still feels surreal. For a kid from a town of 1,800, representing this state on a national stage is a privilege I’ll never take lightly.”
And this title doesn’t mark the end of her ambitions—she plans to remain in Lincoln to finish her master’s, and with an eye already on the 2028 Olympics, Meyer says, “Nothing is off the table.” Nebraska Athletics

From Superior roots to Husker heights, Kalynn’s journey is one of academic brilliance, athletic excellence, and unwavering ambition. She's well on her way to becoming the second BSE community member to bring home Olympic gold.
