BSE faculty and a graduate student visited Makerere University in Uganda last summer to strengthen international partnerships, thanks to the generous support of Darrell and Lois Watts. Pictured with colleagues from Makerere University are BSE’s Mark Stone, Saleh Taghvaeian, Jenny Keshwani, and Martha Nabaggala.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of Lois Watts, a cherished member of our extended BSE family. Lois was the widow of former BSE faculty member Darrell Watts, and together, they made a lasting impact on our department and beyond.

Lois was a devoted supporter of our collaborative efforts with Makerere University in Uganda, and her pride in that partnership and the friendships it fostered was unmistakable. Her generosity and unwavering commitment to our mission exemplify the best of what it means to be part of our community.

I invite you to read more about Lois’s inspiring life and legacy in her obituary. Please join us in holding her family in our thoughts during this time.
