About Hyun-Seob Song

Dr. Hyun‑Seob Song holds a joint appointment in Biological Systems Engineering and Food Science and Technology at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and is a member of the Nebraska Food for Health Center. He earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Korea University and completed postdoctoral training in computational systems biology and metabolic modeling at Purdue University. Before joining UNL, he worked as a Senior Scientist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and has industrial research experience in computational fluid dynamics and bioprocess engineering from LG Chem Research Park.

Dr. Song’s research combines computational, mechanistic, and data‑driven approaches to understand and predict microbial community behavior and metabolic systems. His lab develops genome-scale metabolic and ecological models and advanced computational tools for metabolic and microbiome engineering, enabling rational design of microbial systems for biotechnology, health, and environmental applications.
