The Department of Biological Systems Engineering is pleased to announce the BSE Emeriti Scholarship Fund Drive. The effort encompasses 14 University of Nebraska Foundation scholarship funds, with a comprehensive list available on the BSE website.

The campaign seeks to honor important figures in the department’s history and build the future by providing support for current and future students, said David Jones, department head.

“We’re proud to invite you to support the BSE Emeriti Scholarship Fund Drive in honor of retired members of our BSE community—including professors who may have had a personal impact in your life and career,” he wrote in a letter announcing the campaign’s kickoff.

Situated between the College of Engineering and the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, the BSE department provides one-of-a-kind learning experiences that equip students with the skills to make a positive impact. Funds from the campaign will ensure students can continue to thrive in the department’s academic programs.

“Each contribution honors the decades of work by BSE professors and staff and ensures their legacies continue in the success of students,” Jones said. “Through these funds, you can support student scholarships, research, travel aboard, and learning experiences we have yet to imagine.”

A different emeriti or luminary will be featured every month, including their involvement with the department, reasons for starting a scholarship fund and career accomplishments. Follow along with updates on social media or by signing up for emails.

“Together, we have an incredible opportunity to uplift the enduring contributions BSE professors and faculty members have made and meet the enormity of their impact with the generosity of this community,” Jones said.
